GORDON BROWN’S CHAOS

Gordon Brown, the UK PM, has Sun, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Node in 12th House Pisces, as well as Mercury in the 12th. A substantial part of this man is hidden from view (12th) and it is chaotic, indolent, imaginative, creative, profoundly connected to the collective desires etc etc. But we don’t get to see this side, and never did in all his 10 years as Chancellor – apart from, perhaps, the odd flash via his concern for Africa.

What we do see is this unusually controlled, responsible accountant, which he is particularly playing up (successfully) at the moment, but it is not an act, it’s his comfort zone, and has been for years. Gordon, where are you?

This may sound like pop psychology, but being leader of the country, and being so connected to the collective, I think his missing 12th House gets projected outwards, it gets played out around him in major national events. This has been happening since the moment he became PM. All these events that he can’t control are his own suppressed 12th House Pisces.

There has been a remarkable run of uncontrollable national events in the mere 6 weeks since he has been PM. Within 2 days of him starting the job, there was a series of attempted terrorist attacks. Then we have had endless and unprecedented flooding in the UK (particularly appropriate for 12th House Pisces). And in the last 24 hours there has been a confirmed outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease: when this last happened, it spun out of control very quickly and became a national crisis.

At least it's cheaper for him than paying a dominatrix.

It is a strange set of coincidences, and I think it is psychologically fascinating. Chill out, Gordon! Stop "trying your utmost" as you put it.

I think George W Bush has his Sun in the Twelfth House. He certainly has events going on that he can't control. Would this mean that he perceives his worth according to how well he responds to events he can't control?

I think George has a different set of problems. He's not nearly as Piscean/12th as Gordon. With Iraq, it is out of control, but he set it up. With Katrina, it was out of control, and he didn't care. Gordon tries to control, to micromanage - repressed 12th/Pisces - whereas GWB tries to impose rigid ideologies over a broad spectrum: Sun square Jupiter and Moon conjunct Jupiter.

Fascinating to think that a person's own inner turmoil could affect the weather.

I should have been clearer: it's synchronicity, which Jung called an 'acausal connecting principle'. So Brown's inner turmoil - or unfortunate lack of it - is symbolically expressed by the weather etc. But it's not 'just' a symbol, a neat idea, there is a real connection there. It's just not causal. Astrology works in the same way.

Ah ok. In other words, the time was ripe in the UK for 'picean/12th house' turmoil 'stuff' to occur on many levels. Maybe this would show-through on the UK chart.

Another bit of synchronicity: on Saturday (4th) resident W showed up here in Mpls for his on-the-ground photo opp on the site of the collapsed bridge (potent symbolism in itself!). And out of a whole summer of blazing hot days (we're in the grip, year 2 now, of a severe drought), that day was cloudy dawn to dusk with occasional drought -- no real impact on the drought. Uncanny...
It's reminiscent of 20 Jan 01, when W was sworn in amidst a cold rain. On some level, the collective knew what it had just bought.

I feel so good about Gordon Brown. So good! Not just cos he's from Fife (go, Fife, go!), but I feel optimistic. Especially with that hat he has on. He does wear it most days, doesn't he? I can't see that far from Canada, but the vibe I'm getting is a good one...
